DTS + Winkelmann, LLC was formed in 2005 by the merger of DTS Architects, P.C. and Winkelmann Architects, P.C. The firm is a natural blending of two very talented groups of individuals under the leadership of Principals, David Sobota and Brian Winkelmann, who have more than 45 years of combined experience.

Company History

DTS Architects, founded in 1982, had built a reputation throughout Michigan and the greater Midwest for providing cost effective solutions in a timely manner while producing a wide variety of building types. They worked with national clients to develop prototypes and specialized facilities and continue to service those accounts. This type of on-going “multi-project relationship” represented a major percentage of the company’s workload.

Founded in 1992, Winkelmann Architects specialized in the restoration and rehabilitation of vintage architecture on urban redevelopment projects, multi-family residential and historic preservation and redevelopment, as well as a variety of new construction types. As the principal at Winkelmann Architects, Brian Winkelmann’s experience with historical building preservation and adaptive reuse earned him certification by the State of Michigan as a Qualified Technical Preservation Consultant for Historical Architecture. He is also LEED certified through the United States Green Building Council.

Company Philosophy

Integrity, creativity and a high level of professionalism—highly valued traits of the staff at DTS + Winkelmann. We identify with our clients by listening to their needs and ideas; then we design a solution that not only meets their requirements but also exceeds their expectations. We feel our most valuable assets—the ones that will help us grow into new opportunities—are the positive relationships we have maintained with our clients over the years.

We can go and grow with our clients. We have N.C.A.R.B. certifications that qualify us for licensure in all 50 states and Canada. We have active registrations in 28 states.
